Abstract: Ein Klassiker der verstehenden Soziologie Die von Thomas Luckmann nach dem Tod von Alfred Schütz vollendeten Strukturen der Lebenswelt gelten als Grundlegung der phänomenologischen Soziologie. Alfred Schütz deckt hier schrittweise jene elementaren Strukturen des Alltagslebens auf, die sozialer Erfahrung, Sprache, sozialem Handeln und somit auch der komplexen historischen Welt des menschlichen Lebens zugrunde liegen.Alfred Schütz (*1899 in Wien) lehrte bis zu seinem Tod 1959 an der New School of Social Research in New York. Sein Schüler Thomas Luckmann (1927-2016) war Professor für Soziologie an der Universität Konstanz und der bedeutendste Vertreter der Wissenssoziologie und Religionssoziologie

Abstract: In Between Facts and Norms (1996) Habermas presents the more straightforward normative discourse theory of law and democracy, in terms of contemporary legal orders, and then examines, in terms of social theory, whether the theory is plausible, given the complex nature of today's conditions. The following article focuses in particular on Habermas' social theory. It is critical of Habermas' idea of 'the lifeworld' and discusses whether the circulation-of-power model might be mapped onto the system-lifeworld model.

Abstract: This article explores Marx's contention that the achievement of full personhood and, not just consequently, but simultaneously, of genuine intersubjectivity depends upon the attainment of recognition for one's place in the social division of labour, recognition which is systematically denied to some individuals and groups of individuals through the capitalist organization of production and exchange. This reading is then employed in a critique of Axel Honneth's theory of recognition which, it is argued, cannot account for the systematic obstacles faced by some struggles for recognition.
