(2015) : Socialization and Education. Theoretical Perspectives In: Wright, James D.: International Encyclopedia of the Social & Behavioral Sciences (Second Edition): Oxford: Elsevier, S. 861-865
Abstract: In this article, first, four perspectives in studying the processes of socialization and education, that is, chronological, topical, institutional, and cultural points of view, are briefly addressed. Then, three major groups of theories, namely biological theories (sociobiology and evolutionary psychology), psychological theories (psychoanalytic, attachment, epigenetic, and learning theories), and sociological theories (structural functionalism, symbolic interactionism, and conflict theories), are described in greater detail. Finally, an integrative framework for studying socialization and education is offered based on five aspects: units of environmental influence, characteristics of individuals, proximal processes, goals and values, and self-socialization. zitiert von 20
