    Abstract: Nowadays, many robots are in service for the people, such as pepper, Paro, HSR and so on. The robots are not only as partners but also provide services to daily life. To be a good partner, a robot needs to have a better model of feedback, such that it can interact more naturally. Moreover, in order to design a robot that can interact just like human, we need to design the emotion model for the robot. In our research, first our system extracts face and computes the feature from the facial image. Then our system uses SVM to classify the facial expression into different emotion states. At the same time, the robot also updates its own emotion states. Then the robot's emotion will change to interact with human according to the facial expression recognized. Therefore, the robot can show different feedback actions that expressing the emotion of robot with some funny postures.

    Abstract: A fundamental challenge of human interaction with socially interactive robots, compared to other interactive products, comes from them being embodied. The embodied nature of social robots questions to what degree humans can interact ‘naturally’ with robots, and what impact the interaction quality has on the user experience (UX). UX is fundamentally about emotions that arise and form in humans through the use of technology in a particular situation. This chapter aims to contribute to the field of human-robot interaction (HRI) by addressing, in further detail, the role and relevance of embodied cognition for human social interaction, and consequently what role embodiment can play in HRI, especially for socially interactive robots. Furthermore, some challenges for socially embodied interaction between humans and socially interactive robots are outlined and possible directions for future research are presented. It is concluded that the body is of crucial importance in understanding emotion and cognition in general, and, in particular, for a positive user experience to emerge when interacting with socially interactive robots.     Abstract: In human - robot interaction many different signals are used by robots in order to get a proper environment representation. Even more so, the social robots, whose primary task is to maintain successful interaction with humans, should use input signals in order to model the human itself. One important human characteristic is the human emotional state. As a result, perceiving human emotions is one challenging task for social robots. This paper is a summary of the construction of an example robot that can perceive human emotion evaluation based on some new implementation ideas. Here, the building process is described along with the challenges and the results from the research. Experimental results are used to support the conclusion. The importance of robots that perceive emotion evaluation in human-robot interaction in general is stated as well.

    Abstract: This keynote talk will illustrate a basic set of skills of emotional intelligence, how they are important for robots and agents that interact with people, and how our research at MIT addresses part of the problem of giving robots such skills. One of the most important skills is the ability to perceive and understand expressions of emotion, which I will highlight by demonstrating new technologies developed to read joint facial-head movements in real-time and associate these with complex affective-cognitive states, and technologies to read paralinguistic vocal cues from speech. I will also show some non-traditional ways robots might sense and learn about human emotion, and ways they can respond to what they sense that can help or hurt people. I will discuss social and ethical issues these technologies raise. Finally, I will present some new possibilities for robots to both learn from people and help teach skills of emotional intelligence to people, especially to those with nonverbal learning impairments who often want to learn these skills, including many people with diagnoses of autism spectrum disorders such as Aspergers Syndrome.
